Privacy Policy

Tracepath is a study app for the CompTIA A+ exams. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Short version: we collect only what the app needs to save your progress, we don't show ads, and we don't sell your data.

If you use Tracepath without an account

Your progress is saved in your browser's local storage on your device. It isn't sent to us. Clearing your browser data erases it.

What we collect when you sign in

• Account details: your email address. If you sign in with Google, Google also shares your name and profile picture with us.
• Your progress: lessons and labs completed, answer history, callbacks, hours, streaks, and the settings and display name you choose in the app.

The waitlist

If you join the list on our home page, we store your email address and use it only to tell you when Pro and new courses open. Ask us through Send feedback and we'll remove it.

Feedback you send

If you use Send feedback, we store your message along with the course you were on, your screen size, and your browser type, so we can reproduce problems. If you're signed in, it's linked to your account so we can follow up.

Technical information

Like any website, our hosting and database providers log IP addresses and request details to run and secure the service.

How we use it

To run the app, sync your progress across devices, answer feedback, fix bugs, and keep the service secure. We don't use your data for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't share it for targeted ads. There are no analytics or ad trackers in the app right now. If that changes, we'll update this policy first.

Who helps us run Tracepath

These service providers process data for us, in the United States:

• Supabase: sign-in and the database that stores accounts, progress, and feedback.
• Cloudflare: hosting for the website.
• Google: Google sign-in, if you choose it, and the web fonts the app uses.
• jsDelivr: delivers a code library the app loads.

Loading fonts and code from these services shares your IP address with them, as any website does.

Cookies and storage

We don't use advertising cookies. The app uses your browser's local storage to keep your progress and your sign-in session on your device.

How long we keep it

Account data and progress are kept until you delete your account. Deleting your account (Settings → Privacy & data → Delete account) removes your account and saved progress right away. Feedback you've sent is kept but no longer linked to you.

Your choices

• See and copy your data: Settings → Privacy & data → Download my data.
• Delete everything: Settings → Privacy & data → Delete account.
• Ask a question or request a correction: use Send feedback in Settings.

Children

Tracepath isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has made an account, tell us through Send feedback and we'll delete it.

Security

Data is sent over HTTPS, and database rules let each account read only its own progress. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also tell you in the app.
